[Gosh. You're so weird, Abby! But that's why he loves you. He scoots in close and then hands it to her. There's two packages. One is hard and stiff and the other... slightly cold and soft, okay! But they have both been wrapped with the utmost precision.]
(she scrubs his hair with her knuckles as he scoots within noogie range, and takes the... book-shaped package first, turning it slowly over in her hands. giving it a shake, as if she expects to hear something rattling around in there.

abby even goes as far to tip it open on her knee and scan down the first page, her palm rubbing idle circles on lev's back as she starts to zone out. it's definitely a success.)
[He wiggles a bit, usually not into that sort of touch but this past month, especially having been sick, he's enjoyed being close to Abby. And to Nico.
(she reaches for the other present, taking her time with unwrapping it this time and– she's speechless when she takes it out and into both of her hands.
(abby nods. she's got a lump in her throat so she's not gonna try saying anything for a hot second, she's just going to... sit here, and look at the drawing, and lean gently into lev while she does.)
It's really good. (whoops, her words come out a little choked up. she coughs, and clears her throat, and sits up a little straighter. trying to act like that didn't just rattle her to her core, nbd.)

[He leans against her. He knows that talking about her dad can be hard. Sometimes it flows easily, other times it feels like all of your thoughts, your memories, are stuck behind the wall of a dam and you can't get it out no matter how much you want to.
So for a moment, all is quiet as he leans his head against hers and they're quiet and still and it's nice.
Then she sees the bacon and he straightens.]
If you go to the gym a lot, you need to eat certain things. If you eat this for breakfast everyday you'll be even stronger.
(she didn't know he could draw like this. abby's caught him doodling before in pencil and on bits of old, torn scrap paper. here he has access to a whole range of mediums, and he's really explored that; she brushes the corner of the drawing with her thumb, looking it over slow for what feels like the tenth time already.
his head against her arm is such a soothing weight. she wishes they could stay like this forever.
the explanation behind his third gift breaks the moment, but in a good way. abby laughs, startled, and examines the plastic packaging with interest. who the hell told him that?)
